Tears of the Kingdom – how to get Amber

As rare minerals go, Amber isn’t extremely rare or valuable. With that said, finding some is typically cause for celebration. You can use it for crafting, or sell it for rupees.

The easiest way to get Amber in Tears of the Kingdom is to look for mineral deposits. You tend to find such deposits in caves, where they appear as large, dark boulders with sparkling light dancing around them.

When you find a cave with such a boulder, there may be more regular boulders in the immediate vicinity. You can use your Fuse ability to add the standard boulders to a weak weapon in your inventory. Then, smash apart the mineral deposits to reveal the goodies they contained. You may find Amber or even Ruby, as well as other useful items such as Flint.

Early in the game, while you are exploring the Great Sky Island region, you may discover the Pondside Cave not far from In-isa Shrine. For more details about the cave’s precise location, check out our guide on where to find Link’s Archaic Tunic. The cave contains several mineral deposits and a rock wall along the edge of the large chamber where you fight a frog. Break down the rock wall to find even more deposits. This is one of the best early places in the game to find the mineral.

Not far from the Pondside Cave, also near the southwestern portion of the Great Sky Island, you’ll find a treasure chest on a raised platform you can easily reach by manipulating floating platforms. Make your way to that platform and check the chest. You’ll receive Amber.

As the game progresses, Amber sightings become less exciting. Stone-based monsters may drop the mineral, and some of the mystique goes away. Early on, though, it’s quite the find. Always make sure to break apart those sparkling mineral deposits to see what they contain.
