In Monopoly GO, every player has a showroom, a place where they can show off their collections of shields nand player icons. However, the process of gaining new shields is not clear, and the game doesn’t provide any explanation. Collecting these shields isn’t just cosmetic, as there are rewards to be had fro collecting them! Here is how to get different shields in Monopoly GO.
What are shields used for in Monopoly GO?
Shields have one fundamental mechanical use: to block other player attacks on your boards. You can pick up shields by landing on them on your board, with a maximum storage of three shields. When you pick up a shield whilst you’re maxed out, you’ll get your dice refunded!
These shields block attacks from other players, keeping you safe and reducing their gains. To add insult to this injury, you can change the appearance of your shields, to flex on them at the same time. These shields are stored in your showroom. Click on the three shield slots in the top right corner to see this. You can also access the showroom by tapping on it in the menu.
When you collect five shields, a row in the showroom will fill and unlock the next shelf. Each shelf that’s unlocked nets you rewards, so it’s definitely worth doing! You can choose which shield you want equipped here.

How to get new shields in Monopoly GO
Shields will be handed out as rewards for certain events, after reaching certain networth levels, and for progressing through boards. There are many opportunities to get themed shields, but it won’t be easy, and is only for the most dediated!
If you missed a new shield from an event, there is currently no way to get that shield. As Scopely adds more content to the game, you may find future events where that same shield is back up for grabs. You’ll just have to be patient and allow Scopely to implement the shields as they see fit.
