Stardew Valley: Where to find Mystery Boxes

One of the most mysterious aspects of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, besides the elusive Bookseller, is the Mystery Boxes. As soon as I noticed Mr. Qi in an airplane drop Mystery Boxes over Pelican Town, I was excited to go searching for them immediately.

But if you go walking around, you’ll probably struggle to notice them at all. You can get Mystery Boxes in Stardew Valley through random activities like fishing, chopping trees, and mining.

Mystery Boxes act like Geodes do. And just like Geodes work, whenever you randomly find a Mystery Box in Stardew Valley, you must take it to Clint the Blacksmith to open for 25 gold. Mystery Boxes don’t just fall from the sky and land right on the grass, this event you see at night essentially just allows you to be able to find Mystery Boxes.

From this day forward, you’ll be able to find Mystery Boxes by doing random activities. Sometimes you’ll chop down a tree and spot one, other times you’ll dig up an Artifact spot and get one. It’s extremely random, so don’t go searching for Mystery Boxes. Just wait until they come to you.

But what’s inside Mystery Boxes? Players will be able to find an array of unique items after getting the Blacksmith to open them at his anvil. Here are some of the possible contents:

  • Coffee
  • Deluxe Speed-Gro
  • Hardwood
  • Lobster Bisque
  • Omelet
  • Pepper Seeds
  • Quality Fertilizer
  • Wheat Seeds

While these items aren’t that rare, they’re still useful and can come in handy. Coffee is a great consumable that gives you a speed buff, Hardwood is tougher to come across than normal wood, and who doesn’t want Fertilizer or Speed-Gro?

With the new 1.6 Stardew Valley update, players have so much more content to play around with. Not only are there these Mystery Boxes, but there are new festivals to partake in as well.
