How to get the Battle Trance Unique in Diablo 4

Gimme those Frenzy Stacks!

With Barbarians receiving a substantial buff in Patch 1.1.1, more players than ever are eager to try out the class. Some of the rarest, most coveted rewards in the game are Unique items. If you’re a hulking Barbarian, you might just have your heart set on the class-specific Amulet, the Battle Trance. The problem is, as the item is Unique, it’s exceptionally rare, and finding one can be a lesson in frustration. Let me show you how to get the Battle Trance Unique in Diablo 4, or at least where to start looking.

We’ve extensively covered how to gather Legendaries and Uniques in our farming guide, but the most important thing to remember with Uniques is this: You can only get Uniques on World Tier 3 or 4. It’s also worth noting that even on these Tiers, you cannot get Uniques from the Tree of Whispers or the Obol Vendor. With these restrictions, we have two reliable farming methods for Uniques, including the Battle Trance in Diablo 4.

Helltides

Helltides are only accessible at World Tier 3 or higher. Even with the nerfs to Helltide farming in Season One, this activity still yields one of the highest Unique drop rates in the game. After you’ve collected 250 Abberant Cinders, you should prioritize finding a Chest of Mysteries; check out our guide for the locations. The Chest of Mysteries always drops a tidy stack of Legendary gear, with a small chance of Uniques.

All other regular Helltide Chests can drop Unique gear, but there’s a catch. If you’re lucky enough for a Unique to appear in a Helltide Chest, it won’t necessarily match the type of chest you opened. For example, opening a weapon’s Helltide Chest may give you Unique Boots or Gloves. It’s frustrating, but this mechanic is in place, so you can’t target specific equipment.

Nightmare Dungeons

If the Helltide event isn’t active, your next best bet is Nightmare Dungeons. In Patch 1.1.1, drop chances for top-tier loot are increased with a guaranteed piece of Legendary gear at the end. That final drop has a chance to be Unique as well. The 100% boss drop is nice, but Patch 1.1.1 also increases mob density in Nightmare Dungeons. With more enemies, there’s a higher chance to find decent gear making these Dungeons lucrative areas.

Is there no other way to get the Battle Trance?

You could get extremely lucky and have a Unique drop from a random enemy but other than that, not really. Uniques are the rarest items in the game, and that means you’re at the mercy of lady luck if you’re after a specific item. Still, Helltides have a reasonable drop rate, and Nightmare Dungeons are ideal for leveling up Glyphs. Hunting for Uniques is frustrating if that’s all you’re doing, so I recommend letting it happen naturally while doing other things.
