How to increase vendor credits and carry capacity in Starfield

More room to haul your junk for selling.

In every Bethesda title, there comes a time when you must haul your valuables and junk to vendors to sell for some sweet money. Starfield is no exception. However, your carry capacity and available vendor funds can stifle this process.

Despite the ludicrous prices of their goods, each vendor only seems to have a handful of cash available at a time.

Unfortunately, this problem persists although the update addressed many quality-of-life irritations. All you can do is wait 48 in-game hours for a vendor to get more credits. You’ll have to rinse and repeat this process, or keep hitting different vendors to sell your items.

Many vendors have larger sums of credits available, but you can’t increase it.

How to increase carry capacity in Starfield

While there’s nothing you can do to make vendors have more credits available for you in Starfield, you can at least increase your carrying capacity.

There are many things you can do to carry more stuff in Starfield. The most reliable way to do this is by leveling up your Weight Lifting Skill. This can be found in the Physical skill tree. There are four ranks, which will grant you an extra 100kg of carry weight.

Additionally, you can make mods that permanently increase carry capacity as long as they’re equipped. You can mod your spacesuit and pack this way, for a combined total of an extra 20kg.

There are also temporary ways to increase your carry capacity, such as consuming items. Pick-Me-Up is a treatment that gives you an extra 50kg for 15 minutes. Lots of food will also increase your carry capacity, although in smaller amounts for less time.

You can also hand off items to your companions, which are essentially pack mules in any Bethesda game. With a companion, your carry capacity has essentially doubled.

Now that you know how to increase your carrying capacity in Starfield and hopefully aren’t too disappointed that you can’t increase vendor capacity, you can go forth and try selling your goods. Make sure you’ve got a companion with you when you, however.
