How to propose in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

In total, there are eight different romance candidates available in Forgotten Valley. Between four women and four men, there are many options for who you’d like to start a life with. Once you’ve decided who you’d like to marry, you need to make sure you’re at the right relationship level, and you have the blue feather.

First of all, make sure to raise that person’s hearts enough so they accept your proposal. But how many hearts should they be at for them to accept it? Press ‘tab’ to look at your menu, then head over to the ‘Resident Info’ page. There, you should see a list of all the citizens in Forgotten Valley and your relationship level with them. For example, you can see here that I have five heart levels with Cecilia.

The yellow area means you’re in the friend zone, but if the face is in the red zone, that means they’ll say yes to your proposal. That’ll require around eight hearts before the face moves out of the yellow zone. If they have less than eight hearts, the proposal will probably be unsuccessful. How you can raise someone’s hearts is by giving them gifts that they love. As a fair warning, to continue past the first year of the game, you must either propose to someone, or have at least six hearts with someone.

Why? Because at the end of the first year, Takakura will force you to choose someone. And if you haven’t built a good enough relationship with someone, you won’t be able to play into year two. Now that you have someone special to propose to, how do you do it? Sometime during Spring of your first year, your Sprite friends will give you a Blue Feather.

Giving this item to someone means that you’re proposing to them. Of course, if you haven’t given it to someone by the end of year one, the game will force you to ask someone. That’s all it takes to marry someone in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life!
