A free Exotic if you're up for the challenge

Exotic Missions offer Guardians a guaranteed way to earn powerful Exotic weapons if they can handle the pressure. In preparation for the Final Shape, we now have The Whisper quest. If you’re ready to get stuck in, let me show you how to start The Whisper Exotic Mission in Destiny 2 (Into the Light).

Head to the Moon and speak with Eris Morn near the Sanctuary Landing Zone. You can accept the Whispers of the Past quest from her. Exotic Missions can be tackled alone but are much more manageable with a Fireteam. If you’re playing with friends, make sure you’ve all accepted the quest to ensure the activity runs smoothly and everyone gets rewards.

You can start the Whispers of the Past quest by selecting it from the Into The Light section in the Director (pictured above).

What is an Exotic Mission in Destiny 2?

If you’re a new player and are wondering what all the fuss is about, let me explain. Exotic Missions are unique in Destiny 2, as they reward Guardians with a guaranteed Exotic weapon. Not only that, the Exotic prize is specific to the quest, so you can’t obtain it any other way.

Naturally, as the rewards are so coveted, Exotic quests are challenging. You may struggle as a new solo Guardian, but you should be fine if you meet the Light Level requirements. These tasks aren’t usually as complex as Dungeons but expect to be tested. You’ll have an easier time if you can do them with a friend or Fireteam.

Another great feature of the Into the Light Exotic quests is their easy access. You can choose them from the Director instead of waiting as with previous quests of this type.

The only way to participate in similar tasks is through the Exotic Mission Rotator, which you can find on the Star Map in the Legends section (pictured above). The issue with quests here is that they rotate weekly. If you miss the one you want, you must wait multiple weeks for it to return.

Exotic missions are tough, but a decent loadout can make them much easier. Bring a selection of the best Exotic weapons you have to take the sting out of these challenging quests.
