Can you change characters at the start of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League?

After playing through each character’s tutorial, you’ll pick one character to play as. But, don’t be alarmed because this is temporary. Rocksteady wants you to be switching between characters often and with ease.

It took me about an hour to get to the open world which is where you unlock the ability to switch between characters whenever you want.

After seeing the big floating purple skull and entering Metropolis, you automatically unlock character selection. To do this, press left on the D-pad on the controller. The control for mouse and keyboard is near the bottom right, left of the map, with the two emojis with an arrow between them icon.

From here on out, you can swap between characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League whenever you want. That is if you aren’t playing online and someone else already has that character.

When you join an online match in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the players that join your game select a character or two. If you’re playing two-player, each player gets two characters to swap between. If you’re playing three or four-player, each player selects one character and you don’t get to swap to any other character.

The cool thing is you can select the same character as someone else. So, in theory, you can have four King Sharks in one match. You’ll see a warning on the squad menu screen that says the dialogue of the story missions will be messed up without all the characters there, but you do you.

Oddly enough, the host of the match doesn’t get to select their character when others join. I recommend matchmaking with the character you want to be before the match begins. This is your only way to reserve the character you want to play.

And that’s how character switching works in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Now, you can learn if Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice is in the Arkham Universe.
