How to turn into the fox from Tunic in Animal Well: easter egg, explained

The Ruin Seeker makes an appearance in Animal Well.

Animal Well is a puzzle playground ready to be solved, filled with mysteries, secrets, and easter eggs. One easter egg allows the player to turn into the Fox from the video game Tunic, and this guide details how it’s done.

Animal Well: How to turn into the fox from Tunic

Players can turn into the fox from Tunic in Animal Well by simply pressing and holding the jump button. Once you press and hold the jump button, your character will jump into the air, land on the ground, and then turn into the fox from Tunic after holding the button for about five seconds. Remember, you must hold down the jump button or this easter egg will not work.

Unfortunately, turning into the fox from Tunic doesn’t have any benefits in Animal Well. For example, you don’t gain new abilities and you can’t even move around as the fox. In other words, you will transform back to Animal Well’s main character as soon as you start moving.

If you aren’t familiar with Tunic, just know that it is truly amazing and I recommend any indie lover or Zelda fan to check it out.

Tunic fox easter egg in Animal Well, explained

From my research, I haven’t found any connection between Tunic and Animal Well. The developer of Animal Well, Billy Basso, doesn’t have any ties to the development or production of Tunic. This makes me think that the Tunic easter egg in Animal Well is simply a “friendly nod” from one indie developer to another.

Are there more easter eggs in Animal Well?

I’m sure there are more easter eggs to be found in the game. Animal Well is filled with mysteries and secrets, so there is bound to be more than one out there. At the time of writing, the fox from Tunic is the only official easter egg discovered.

As you search the map of Animal Well for more easter eggs, make sure you look out for collectibles. Head over to our figurines guide to learn more!
