How to unlock all characters in Mortal Kombat 1

With such a track record of memorable – and not-so-memorable – characters in the Mortal Kombat franchise, with the latest reboot, Mortal Kombat 1, one of the main points of interest was the roster that we will get to enjoy. Now that it is available for us to enjoy in a very violent, gory, and quite awesome manner, will we have to go through an epic adventure to unlock them all? Here is how to unlock all characters in Mortal Kombat 1.

Thankfully, in Mortal Kombat 1 there is only one unlockable main roster character along with five different Kameo fighters. Moreover, the way you unlock each of these characters is completely reasonable. So, don’t worry about achieving any major milestones like a minimum of fights in a certain difficulty or completing a specific mode with every single character in the game. With that being said, you will have to play the game a bit to unlock the following characters. I hope you enjoy this new entry to the Mortal Kombat franchise.

  • Havik: Finish the Kampaign mode.
  • Scorpion (Kameo): Unlocked at Profile Level 5.
  • Sub-Zero (Kameo): Unlocked at Profile Level 10.
  • Kung Lao (Kameo): Unlocked at Profile Level 15.
  • Shujinko (Kameo): Unlocked at Profile Level 20.
  • Motaro (Kameo): Unlocked at Profile Level 25.

To increase your profile level, you will have to play the different modes that Mortal Kombat 1 has to offer. That is, except for the Kampaign. You can also check your Profile in the game to look for certain objectives that award Profile Level bonuses as well.

Regarding Shang-Tsung, the game’s antagonist, it is advertised as a pre-order bonus. That means that initially, he will be only accessible to all of those who have pre-ordered the game. Thanks, Captain Obvious. However, given NetherRealm’s track record, it is completely feasible that Shang-Tsung will be a day 1 DLC character for you to purchase. Once the official release date arrives, be sure to check out the store so you can get him if you want.
