One of the main things you will be doing during your Sand Land adventure is to recruit new NPCs to join you in living in Spino, a town that has become your de facto base of operations. Other than breathing life into an otherwise deserted town, you will want to do so if you want to open up vendors who will provide you with valuable items and resources.
To that end, here is how to unlock the EX Chip shop in Sand Land.
Sand Land: How to unlock the EX Chip shop
Once you have invited a couple of people to join you in Spino, Rao will point out that you will probably need to set up an EX Chip shop. These items are crucial for your vehicles since they act as modifiers which will give you a variety of boosts, allowing more complex customizations.
However, contrary to other vendors, you won’t get to start a quest to get the EX Chip shop set up in Spino right away. You will have to progress through the story and discover the Legendary Spring so you can unlock the EX Chip shop. Once you do, you will need to travel back to the Junker Market in Lisab, just north of Spino.
There, you will find Arthur. He is searching for materials so he can craft some EX Chips, dreaming of setting up his own EX Chip shop. Sounds like the right guy for our Spino shop! He will, however, warn us that the material he needs can only be collected by defeating the Queen Scorpion located at the Old Junkyard. And, of course, we will have to handle said queen.
The battle against the Queen Scorpion is pretty straightforward. Shoot her with everything you’ve got installed in your tank while avoiding her attacks. The first one will be a ranged attack, with the Queen shooting her venom towards you. The second one is a charge attack. The final one will have the Queen Scorpion dig herself into the sand to attack from below. As long as you keep moving and don’t stop firing, you will be ok.
Once you defeat the Queen Scorpion, Arthur will come running toward you and be excited that you have accomplished the impossible – which you have probably done so several times before if you have explored the south desert. He will say he has everything he needs to set up an EX Chip store and you will then invite him to join you in Spino.
Once you get back to Spino, you will find his store up and running. Be sure to browse through all the different EX Chips that Arthur offers. He will offer chips for every single vehicle you can build in the game – even the ones that you haven’t unlocked yet. Just be mindful that you will need to upgrade your vehicles along with their chip sockets.
