Honkai: Star Rail is free-to-play on PC, and mobile devices. It also plans to release on PlayStation in the future. But what is the catch if it’s free-to-play? Gacha games are notorious for having a loot box type of system. Like Genshin, HoYoverse’s new game will entice players to spend real money to have the chance of unlocking certain characters. Of course, you’re not required to spend real money, but if you really want to get your favorite character, it benefits to pay up.
If you have the cash, Honkai: Star Rail allows you to purchase their premium currency called Stellar Jade. This currency is available to earn in-game for free, but buying it makes it easier to obtain. And once you have enough Stellar Jade, you’ll be able to take a chance at getting the character or weapon you want. It’s a chance-based system, so you may not get what you want.
