Is Street Fighter 6 cross-play?

Cross-platform carnage!

One of the best co-op games to ever grace cabinets, consoles, and handhelds has come back to roaring praise. Street Fighter 6 has yet again revamped and reintroduced the world of combo fighters to the masses. One of the most accessible renditions of this wildly successful franchise has old and new players getting their teeth into the world of Street Fighter once again. The cross-play capabilities of these types of fighting games keep the lobbies full and the competition hot, but does Street Fighter 6 allow it?

Yes, absolutely. Street Fighter 6 is cross-play across all platforms it is available on. Therefore, whether you’re playing on a PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, you can take anyone to pound town in cross-play. This should be the standard these days, but some games do miss out on multiplayer support across platforms.

Cross-play support is an important factor to consider when releasing a game like Street Fighter 6. Without it, many players will miss out on the opportunity to pummel their pals. With the latest generation of consoles, players are more split than they have ever been. It would be a shame not to be able to play alongside your friends (and enemies) just because they made the wrong decision and didn’t buy a PC.

The real argument against cross-play, especially in a fast game, is performance. When every frame counts for counters and attacks, the person with the better frame rate will usually come out on top. With platforms like PlayStation and Xbox, the playing field is pretty level. When it comes to PC, there are possibilities to push framerates to untold levels. This may result in a cross-play advantage in Street Fighter 6.

The Nintendo Switch is notably absent from the Street Fighter 6 lineup. The current console wouldn’t be able to handle the next-generation graphics or performance. This would not only cause issues for Street Fighter cross-play but also just running the game in general.
