It’s finally happening, a release date for the World of Warcraft movie has just been revealed by Legendary Pictures.

The short and to the point press announcement states that the movie will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday 18 December 2015.

The film is being directed by Duncan Jones of Moon and Source Code fame and has been written by Duncan Jones and Charles Leavitt. Blizzard’s Chris Metzen is also listed as a producer on the movie to make sure it stays true to the World of Warcraft universe.

The World of Warcraft movie has been talked about for years with Sam Raimi appointed as the director as far back as 2009 and then he pulled out last year. Back in June, Duncan Jones was announced as the movie’s director and that now seems to have stuck with filming starting early next year.

If you love WoW then now would be a good time to mark the diaries. The movie is coming.
