PSA: Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ogres will go after men if dressed like women

I didn't think I'd ever see the day where we could trap Ogres in video games.

The Ogres in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are simple creatures. They target women characters but can get fooled through dressing conventions, leading to unique and hilarious encounters.

Ogres in Dragon’s Dogma 2 target anyone looking like a woman

The community has always thought that Ogres will target woman Pawns and characters specifically, thanks to Pawn dialogue. Whenever I’ve encountered an Ogre with a female Pawn, someone will remind me (for the 100th time) to be wary about this.

However, Reddit user Cloud_Striker, shared an encounter their friend had with an Ogre, where their male Arisen was dressed in feminine clothing.

They detailed that upon meeting an Ogre with feminine attire, the Ogre targeted him and, upon closer inspection, found out that he was a male. In response, the Ogre angrily slammed him on the ground, as opposed to staring in obsession.

This unique interaction was complimented with unique Pawn dialogue, “Pray be cautious! This foe has an alarming fondness for those that it perceives as female!” This proves that Capcom coded in Ogres mistaking men for women thanks to what they’re wearing.

So if you’re a male wearing feminine attire thanks to the stats (or the looks), then you’ll have to worry about Ogres all the same.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is always surprising us, even so long after launch. It’s these sorts of details that keep the players wanting to explore.

This does make me wonder, however. To what extent does this apply? Must an Arisen be dressed head to do in womanly garbs, or will an Ogre come charging your way even if you’re only wearing some high heels? Additionally – will Ogres avoid women dressed in more masculine clothes?

And what about neutral equipment, like armor? Historically, only men typically wore armor, does that make all metal armor sets masculine? In the history of Dragon’s Dogma 2, though, women and men alike have been known to wear armor. So are such sets neutral?

More testing needs to be done for sure, and I implore you to switch up your apparel to see how the Ogres react. Not only is it funny, but will show us just how much attention Capcom paid to this detail.

Naturally, there are some overtly feminine clothing that is bound to get the Ogres drooling, so maybe equipping them to take the heat off your Pawns could be a good idea. Just don’t get grabbed, as if you’re a male, you’ll be in for an unpleasant response.

Alternatively, you could simply exploit their weakness to defeat them before they get a chance to drool over anyone.
