Simple and effective

The Whisper Exotic mission is home to the Whisper of the Worm Exotic Sniper Rifle. It also contains one of the best places to farm kills for your Catalysts. Let me show you how to get there and how it works.

How to farm Catalyst kills in The Whisper Exotic Mission

The Whisper is incredible for farming kills, but you do have to navigate a few jump puzzles first. Fortunately, there are barely any enemies on the way, and you can get here within five minutes. I recommend doing this on Normal difficulty; otherwise, you’ll have a 20-minute timer.

When you reach the room in the picture above, you usually drop down and into the doorway by your feet. Instead, you want to drop down the chasm in the middle of the room and then jump to the side.

You’ll find a wide, sprawling platform on either side of the hole. Don’t worry if you mess up the jump on your first attempt, as you’ll respawn above.

This area is crawling with Shadow Thralls, and the best thing about them is that they infinitely respawn. As long as you’re down here, you’ll have targets to shoot. Most Catalysts demand a ridiculous number of kills to complete, and areas like this are the best places to do it.

Can I farm Energy and Heavy weapon kills in The Whisper?

Ammo is always a pain when you’re farming kills for Special and Heavy weapons, but you can still do it here. You will have to swap to your primary gun occasionally, but each Thrall has a chance to drop an ammo brick when you kill them.

You can also increase the chances of finding ammo with specific Armor mods. Heavy Ammo Finder (pictured above) and Special Ammo Finder improve the odds of dropping ammo. Just make sure to swap the mods back after if they were an important part of your build.

The Exotic Quest is a great addition to Destiny 2, but make sure you also check out Onslaught. If you’re a glutton for punishment, try it on Legend difficulty for some awesome, unique rewards.
