There are many choice-based side quests you’ll come across in this fantasy RPG that test you in many ways. This time, you can either help the guard, or help the kid you bumped into. I believe that you should lie and not tell the guard where the urchin ran off to since it opens up the chance to get to know this NPC more.
After I lied and saved the kid, he thanked me and said he was in my debt. I figured I’d see him again, and sure enough, a few days later I came to a shop stand in the Merchant Quarter to find the kid, which I now knew to be Sven. Sven wanted this Ornate Box badly, but he didn’t have the money for it and asked if I could lend him 1000 gold.
Should you give Sven 1000 gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
If you have the gold, giving Sven 1000 gold is worth it. At this point, I knew I had to say yes just to see where this went. Sven thanked me, saying he’d be sure to pay me back within the next few days. Funnily enough, I could’ve purchased that same Ornate Box before he came to the stall, which may have changed how this side quest turned out.
A quest or two later, I see Sven again sitting at the fountain, and through the next couple of days I chat with Sven as he slowly pays me back. He doesn’t just give you the money back, but he talks about how cool it is that you’re a traveler and how his mother would never allow him to explore the world.
Lying to spare the kid and giving him 1000 Gold was worth it to me since I ended up getting my money back and getting to know more about Sven. Even though it feels like the end of the side quest, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of him in this town.
Overall, you should be pleased to know that helping this kid is worth it since you get your money back and can gain Affinity with this trustworthy NPC. I started to appreciate meeting him at the fountain and talking to him about his dreams of adventure.
