Study Shows Kickstarter Reward Delivery Slowing Down

Kickstarter has become a viable crowdfunding platform for big money enterprises, which is why video game projects have naturally been drawn towards it. Unfortunately, a new study shows that Kickstarter needs to manage the succesful campaigns better. The numbers show that as the number of projects that were crowdfunded have increased, less of these games actually launched, and there is also a shrinking number of backers who got their money back (in terms of delivered rewards, game completion, etc).

Obviously, the numbers may just be a natural consequence of the increasing number of successful Kickstarters, and every project is haunted by they general unpredictable nature of game development, but it still highlights serious accountability issues. it’s something Kickstarter, Indiegogo, et al. have to consider and incorporate into their platforms.
