The Cross Necklace- The what and where

The Cross Necklace is an accessory that comes with Hardmode, and an extremely valuable one to have during it, especially near the hellish beginning of Hardmode. Why is that? The Cross Necklace increases your duration of invincibility after being hit. When your character flashes after being hurt, that’s your brief period of invincibility. Normally it lasts 0.66 seconds, but the Cross Necklace increases it to a whopping 1.33 seconds. That’s over a whole second you can’t take more hits, which adds up. Especially with more rapid-firing enemies or early Hardmode bosses like Skeletron Prime and The Destroyer.

As for where to get the Cross Necklace in Terraria, this valuable, hearts-saving accessory exclusively drops from Mimics. You know, those chests of all types that look like any other chest while exploring only to bear teeth and attack you once you enter Hardmode. You need naturally spawned Mimics, not the ones you create with the Chest Statue, as those only drop Mimic Banners. Mimics spawn in each layer of the Underground all the way down to The Underworld. You have about a 16.67% drop rate for the Cross Necklace from Mimics.

An easy way to spot Mimics is to really pay attention to the look of the chest itself. Mimics don’t always look quite like they’re placed down in the right spot. Sometimes they are floating on only one block. If that chest looks a little off? Shoot something at it from afar and test it out. Chances are it’s a Mimic.

Once you have a Cross Necklace, you can also combine it at the Tinkerer’s Workshop with the Star Cloak, another Mimic accessory, to get a Star Veil. That way you can also damage opponents when you take damage. Take that!
