Starfield: What are the PC specs for minimum and recommended?

As mentioned, Bethesda has optimized Starfield on PC to the nth degree, so you have a high chance of hitting either the minimum or recommended requirements—or both. To start, let’s go over the basic minimum specs. They are as follows:

Starfield minimum specs

  • Operating System – Windows 10 version 22H2
  • CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 2600X/Intel i7-6800K
  • Memory – 16 GB RAM
  • GPU – AMD Radeon RX 5700/Nvidia GeForce 1070 Ti
  • Direct X – Version 12
  • Online – Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage – 125 GB of space available
  • SSD Required

This alone seems promising for the less-powerful rigs out there. However, I have to emphasize that the main takeaway is the SSD. Make sure you have one, otherwise you’ll have issues when using an older HDD.

For console users, check if the Starfield will be available on Game Pass or not. The answer may surprise you.

Starfield recommended specs

  • Operating System – Windows 10/11 with the latest updates
  • CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 3600X/Intel i5-10600K
  • Memory – 16 GB RAM
  • GPU – AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT/Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080
  • Direct X – Version 12
  • Online – Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage – 125 GB of space available
  • SSD Required

Judging by the specs above, clearly the only difference is the GPU and slightly less powerful CPU. In other words, one can assume that most PC gamers will be able to play Starfield on recommended. If not, tweaking the performance is always an option. If you find you that Starfield is stuttering, we have a guide on fixing that.
