What does Forgery do in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Forge your own destiny. And items.

Why would you want to look under each stone to find a valuable item if you can just hire a forger to do the job for you? Well, let’s talk about that, shall we? Here is everything you need to know about Forgery in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Forgery, explained

Forgery in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of those obscure and dirty deeds that might benefit you greatly during your adventure. Forgery allows the creation of a duplicate of a specific object you own with a little twist. While the object in question may appear to be a replica of the original, two things will change. First, the naming will change for unique items, often to dad-comedy results. Most importantly, its effects will change or disappear for higher-tier items.

Let’s say you want to duplicate a Ferrystone – because why wouldn’t you? – and you request the help of a Forger and wait for the result. The resulting Ferrystone copy, while looking exactly alike, will not allow you to fast travel like the original. Well, that’s a bummer! Fortunately, forgeries do have an advantage and that is that they can fool characters that aren’t as savvy as you and me, which will end up with you keeping a requested item instead of just giving it away.

How to use Request a forgery in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As said above, to get one of these deceiving items, you will first have to employ the help of a Forger. While the nature of this work could imply that you will need to explore a bunch to find a den filled with criminals to deal with, you can meet a Forger quite early in the game. As soon as you get to Vernworth, go ahead and visit the West Vernworth Oxcart Station and pay 200 gold to travel to a town called Checkpoint Rest Town. Yes, that’s the most generic name for a town ever.

Once you arrive at the town, you will notice it is built around a hill with a decent number of stores and quests to undertake. For the time being, go downhill until you reach this spot in the Town where you will find Ibrahim’s Scrap Store.

You will soon find that the Scrap Store is home to this Forgery business, which did not take long to uncover – Ibrahim spoiled the beans as soon as I talked to him, so maybe this is no secret at all? Once you talk to him, request a Forgery, pay him the requested amount, and select the item you want to forge. Then, wait one full day before claiming it back.

As said above, you won’t be able to replicate the magic properties of certain items, but doing this with specific crafting materials is a good way to approach Forgery to get better weapons and armor for you and your Pawns.
