What is the best Warbond in Helldivers 2?

Make a democratic decision

Warbonds in Helldivers 2 are like catalogs full of new toys to defeat the Terminid and Automaton scum. At the time of writing, there are already three Premium Warbonds. If you’re ready to spend your hard-earned currency, let me answer the question: What is the best Warbond in Helldivers 2?

What are Warbonds in Helldivers 2

Let me quickly explain what Warbonds are for new or returning players. Warbonds are packs of items, cosmetics, and weapons. Everything in the Warbond costs Medals, which are earned by completing missions and orders.

You can access the Warbonds list from the Acquisitions menu. The default Warbond is called Helldivers Mobilize and is open to all players. At the time of writing, the other available Warbonds are:

  • Steeled Veterans
  • Cutting Edge
  • Democratic Detonation

The big difference is that the listed Warbonds are Premium and cost 1,000 Super Credits to open. You can find Super Credits through regular gameplay or purchase them as a microtransaction. As there’s a real-money element involved, it’s important to make the right decision for you. Fortunately, you can browse the contents of each Warbond without purchasing them.

What Warbond should I buy in Helldivers 2?

I recommend the Cutting Edge Warbond, as it has several heavy-hitting weapons that can handle the game’s hardest content.

For example, the LAS-16 Sickle on the first page is a phenomenal primary weapon. As it’s energy-based, it’s less reliant on ammo drops as long as you don’t let it overheat. The SG-8P Punisher Plasma is a decent alternative if you prefer a more traditional shotgun.

The Localisation Confusion Booster increases the time between enemy encounters and can be worth bringing if staples like Hellpod Space Optimization are already taken. Finally, there are some smart armor and helmet choices, although those are a personal preference.

I think Cutting Edge offers more than the more recent Democratic Detonation, but it’s worth noting the developers’ stance on balance changes. Arrowhead Game Studios have nerfed popular weapons into the ground at a moment’s notice in the past. The developers have also improved underused equipment through indirect buffs and changes.

With this in mind, you can comfortably go with what you think looks cool and still have a great time. If you want the Courtly Bow pose from Democratic Detonation (I totally get it), you’ll still have a blast with your purchase.

We never know when another Premium Warbond will be released, so it’s always worth collecting Super Credits when you can.
