The higher power level keeps players returning time after time. The new power level cap in Destiny 2: Lightfall is a huge 1750 for the soft cap, and an extra 50 to make 1800 for the hard cap.

This is a big increase from the Season of The Seraph power level caps. These come in at 1530 for the soft cap and 1590 for the hard cap. This big jump will give players some serious work to do if they want to be eligible for the hardest events in Destiny 2: Lightfall. Achieving the extra 210 levels won’t be possible over night.

What are power level caps?

In Destiny 2, it is only ever possible to achieve a certain level of strength through new gear and weapons. This cap keeps players from becoming way too overpowered while creating a goal for them to achieve. Only the best players with the highest power level are fit for Destiny 2’s most difficult Strikes and challenges.

There is a soft cap, which can be reached by simply playing through the game. This is attained by equipping and collecting regular gear. Therefore, almost every drop will be higher than your current gear, allowing you to slowly approach the soft cap.

The absolute level cap can be attained through pinnacle gear. This is gear that only drops through certain events throughout a season, but will push you the final leg to reaching the hard cap on the new Destiny 2: Lightfall season.
