The Challenge Rifts in Diablo 3 provide a test of skill along with stellar rewards. They replicate actual Greater Rift clears performed by other players, right down to the dungeon layout, enemies, and character builds. Clearing the Challenge Rifts rewards players with a Challenge Rift cache containing tons of gold and crafting materials. However, the Challenge Rift can only be cleared once per week, meaning players only get a chance at one cache until the reset. Fortunately, we know when the Rift Challenge resets in Diablo 3.
Here’s when to expect Rift Challenge resets in Diablo 3
It’s essential to note North American (NA) and European (EU) servers have separate Challenge Rifts. The North America Challenge Rift resets on Mondays at 1 PM PT or 4 PM ET. The European Challenge Rifts reset on Tuesdays at 4 AM CET.
Challenge Rift rewards
Clearing the challenge grants your character a Challenge Rift cache, which contains the following:
- 5.1 million gold
- 475 Blood Shards
- 35 Death’s Breaths
- 125 Veiled Crystals
- 350 Arcane Dust
- 370 Reusable Parts
- 15 Westmarch Holy Water
- 15 Corrupted Angel Flesh
- 15 Arreat War Tapestry
- 15 Cadleum Nightshade
- 15 Khanduran Rune
These materials let you craft tons of useful armor and weapons for your characters, such as Reaper’s Wraps. If you’re playing a seasonal character, an unopened Challenge Rift cache unlocks your 15th node on the Altar of Rites. Comparatively, the Diablo community debates whether it’s more efficient to keep your Challenge Rift cache for this node or open it for the crafting materials on a new character. Generally, it’s up to you to decide this, taking into account when the Rift resets.
Most of the time, it’s better to open your Challenge Rift cache on a fresh character, unless you’re experienced and plan to min/max your character. Moreover, you reach the point of farming non-craftable gear like the Ancient Puzzle Ring faster this way.
Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls are available on Battle.net.
