Where to find the Cardboard Box location in Fortnite

Wear a Solid Snake cosplay!

Several Metal Gear Solid-themed goodies have made their way into Fortnite in C5S1. No collaboration with MGS would be complete without the Cardboard Box, a mainstay of the series. If you want to sneak around like the legendary Solid Snake, let me show you where to find the Cardboard Box location in Fortnite.

How to find the Cardboard Box in Fortnite

The Cardboard Box is a Mythic Rare item, giving it a gold glow from a distance. As you may expect, the item is pretty uncommon. That said, I’ve found a few just lying on the ground, like this one at the Reckless Railways (pictured below). We will update this guide if we discover any guaranteed spawns for the Cardboard Box.

I’ve not found Cardboard Boxes in regular chests and have only seen them spawn on the ground in built-up areas like towns.

How to use the Cardboard Box in Fortnite

The Cardboard Box is a limited-use item that can bamboozle your opponents. When you pick up the Cardboard Box item, it’s limited to five uses. You can throw one the same way you throw grenades and walk into it to jump inside. You’ll immediately hop in if you throw the Box down by your feet.

You can move around wearing the Box like in the Metal Gear Solid games. Players in my matches already seem pretty aware of the Cardboard Box, and my best efforts to hide have all gone pear-shaped. You may have some luck hiding from opponents by dumpsters or in dark corners, but I doubt it will take long for the community to wise up to this item.

The Cardboard Box is fun, and it’ll be satisfying to trick players with it. However, its usefulness is limited, so try to get creative with the Box, but don’t expect it to feature in your endgame loadouts.

If you’re wondering how that last player knew where you were, they could be using Visual Footsteps. Check out our guide on how it works
