Will Dead Island 2 be cross-play? – Answered

Fun with friends.

Dead Island 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Dead Island that came out in 2011. After going through a long development cycle, it’s finally here, and with that comes a few expectations. You can expect to be smashing zombie heads in style, and having a blast while doing it. But one of the acclaimed features of the first game was the co-operative play the game let players indulge in. Dead Island 2 features the return of many features, including co-operative play. This is great, as many players getting to experience their favorite games with friends is always a fun time, and more co-op games that let you play through the story together is always appreciated. This then begs one question, however. Will Dead Island 2 be cross-play? We’ve answered that question in this handy guide.

Will Dead Island 2 be Cross-Play?

Dead Island 2 will not be cross-play. That’s according to their Technical FAQs on the official Dead Island website, which states that the game won’t have cross-play. Maybe the developers will think it’s worth adding down the line, but for that we can only wait and see what happens.

One thing you will be able to do in Dead Island 2’s co-op however is play cross-gen. If you’re on PlayStation 5, you can play with your buddies on a PlayStation 4. The same for Xbox too, so if you’re on a Series X/S, you can play with friends on Xbox One.

How many people can you play with?

One question that springs to mind when thinking about Dead Island 2’s co-op mode is the amount of players you can play with at any given point. You can play with up to three players, or two friends including yourself. This is always handy to know when planning out a group to play the game with.

Dead Island 2 is available April 21.
