Nothing in life is free. Windows 10 is for a limited time. Hooray!
Microsoft are busy sharing all the Windows 10 details now in their briefing and there’s some interesting news regarding upgrade pricing.
Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 users will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10. This upgrade will be available for a whole year once the OS launches. That’s a pretty big deal, especially for gamers wanting to utilise the latest DirectX.
Following the rather annoying and underwhelming Windows 8, this move will be to encourage users to actually make the jump to Windows 10. People sometimes feel it’s a little risky to move to a new Windows; after all there have been some sub-par releases in the past. Many, for example, jumped from XP to Windows 7 but have avoided upgrading to Windows 8.
With Windows 10 being free (for a limited period,) more are likely to upgrade in order to get access to DirectX 12. Unless Windows 10 turns out to be really awful.
