One of the few Exploration Quests available to you in Wuthering Waves is When the Forest is No Longer Dim, and this quest guide will show you how to complete some of the intricate puzzles along the way.

When the Forest is No Longer Dim quest guide in Wuthering Waves

You’ll first pick this quest up from the anxious researcher in Jinzhou who’s standing near the Synthesizer. After that, you’ll be instructed to head over to the Dim Forest. Speak to Qiaomu who is imprisoned in a locked cage and grab the key hidden in a trailer just a few feet away.

Once rescued, Qiaomu will introduce you to HooHoo, one of the uncontaminated Tacet Discords who works with Qiaomu. You must venture into the contaminated zone and along this quest, you’ll slowly decontaminate it.

After rescuing one of the researchers you’ll head to the first contaminated zone to clear it of any poisons.

First contamination zone

These puzzles start easy, but can soon become difficult. To clear the toxins, you must move the drones to face one another in a specific order until you can face one of the drones directly toward the Offshoot Core. I recommend using a Pistol character like Aalto or Mortefi so you can shoot them accurately.

1. Activate the first drone.
2. Hit the second drone once.
3. Hit the third drone twice.

Following these instructions will disintegrate the Offshoot Core, leaving you with a supply chest and a sample.

Second contamination zone

After the first zone, you’ll be following a trail of spore-ridden animals. Continue following the quest markers and defeat the contaminated Hoochiefs before making it to the second puzzle. This time you’ll see more drones than usual.

1. Activate the first drone.
2. Hit the second drone twice.
3. Hit the third drone once.
4. Hit the fourth drone twice.
5. Hit the fifth and sixth drones once each.

This zone is now decontaminated and you can take your rewards. Before you get to the third contamination zone, Qiaomu and Senmin, the other researcher, are attempting to make antibodies. Although it sounds like you can mess this puzzle up, you can’t.

Qiaomu will tell you first to grab the material on the box, and with each proceeding instruction, she’ll tell you which material to grab. It’s impossible to mess this up.

Third contamination zone

Unfortunately, the experiment doesn’t work as planned, and you must make it to the third contamination zone. You know what to do here, just follow these instructions:

1. Activate the main drone.
2. Hit the second drone twice.
3. Hit the third drone three times.
4. Hit the fourth drone twice.
5. Hit the fifth drone once.

How to solve hack puzzles in When the Forest is No Longer Dim quest

In the next quest area, you’ll have to solve three hack puzzles, just like the ones at the Tiderise Cliff puzzle. If you’re used to these types of puzzles in Wuthering Waves, you should have no problem. But if you’re stuck, here are all three solutions.

Final contamination zone

To get to this zone you’ll have to climb up a giant tree, but it’s pretty linear so you shouldn’t get lost. Hop up the bouncy mushrooms and run along the wooden pathway until you make it to the very top. There’s no puzzle here, luckily you just have a boss battle against the Controlled Hoochief.

Watch out for those wind traps the Hoochiefs put you in. The only way out is to either wait for it to dissipate or to character switch when they have their Intro skill ready (the character will teleport to the targeted enemy).

After decontaminating this zone, you’re finally done the quest and you can collect all your deserved rewards! You’ll find plenty of other similar quests with their own combat and puzzles such as the Secret Investigation quest.
