Austin Wintory, The Composer Behind Games Such As Journey And Flow, Is Facing A $50,000 Fine

The Grammy nominated composer, Austin Wintory who created amazing soundtracks to games such as Journey and flOw is facing a $50,000 fine from his own union.

The AFM (American Federation of Musicians) has passed a movement that will prevent the 90,000 musicians in the union from working on video game soundtracks. It has been over two years since a video game soundtrack was released under AFM sanction and Wintory himself has been charged with working on a non-union project that could see him fined $50,000. The Banner Saga was funded via KickStarter and Wintory composed the music for it which has led to this fine.

Wintory has been an active critic of the AFM and is now beng targeted by them. Despite this he is going public not for his own sake but also for fellow musicians. You can watch his video here:
