Free-to-play MMO coming to XBLA this autumn

Microsoft will publish Happy Wars, a free-to-play massively-multiplayer fighter, on Xbox Live Arcade this autumn.

Happy Wars features 15 vs. 15 combat within a world of cel-shaded graphics and strict character classes (warrior, cleric, mage). An offline mode will also be included. Toylogic is handling development duties.

The game was originally announced way back in September last year, but at the time we didn’t know it was going to be free-to-play. At present, there’s still no mention of how the game will monetise itself or how (if at all) XBLA Silver members will be able to play it.

Free-to-play games have been released on XBLA before, but in the form of heavily-ad supported ‘efforts’ that are barely worth the trouble of searching for it from the dashboard.

Hopefully, this will be better.
