Molyneux rises again to launch Project GODUS Kickstarter

You may know Peter Molyneux by many names; the driving force behind Bullfrog, the creator of the Fable series, the great deceiver, the almighty turtleneck, that guy who made a game about tapping a cube. What many know him for is Populous, and the ‘god game’ genre.

Trading on that powerful memory, Molyneux and 22cans are launching a Kickstarter for Project GODUS, an attempt at “an innovative reinvention” of Populous for a new generation of players. Molyneux is going all-in with the promises on this one, claiming that GODUS “blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White.”

To make that game, of course, 22cans need (well, would certainly like) some of your cash. £450,000 GBP, to be precise (though if more is raised, that would go towards even more ambitious goals).

£15 GBP will get you a copy of the game when it releases, plus access to the beta and other goodies like a 24/7 developer webcam. Those with massive disposable incomes might consider the £5,000 option, which gives you the chance to be a guest of honour at E3 with Peter Molyneux and the rest of the 22cans team.

None of the tiers give you a turtleneck, which is a shame.

Watch the pitch video for GODUS below, and see if you’re convinced.
