Yesterday rumours were circulating that the new Hitman game had been cancelled.

The story appeared after a LinkedIn profile for senior game designer Richard Knight stated that he was moving on to new projects.

Today Square Enix updated their Twitter feed to confirm that the next-gen Hitman has not been cancelled at all and there was some confusion over who was working on future game projects

Many developers used LinkedIn but not all update their profile regularly or state what exactly they are working on so they should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

Square also issued a statement to confirm that IO Interactive are still working on a AAA Hitman game for PC. They also confirmed that  Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development and some of these games include the Hitman franchise. This explains the confusion.
