Chronos won’t let you pause his boss fight in Hades 2

In a viral video on Youtube from “VideoGameNews,” it was revealed that pausing is simply impossible while facing the grueling Chronos boss fight in Hades 2. Chronos is the final boss of the Underworld section of Hades 2, just after the Infernal Beast and a few encounters through Tartarus.

As seen in the video, if you attempt to press the “Esc” key and pause your game, the Titan of Time doesn’t like the fact that you’re trying to control time yourself. Instead of seeing your normal pause menu, the screen goes dark and Chronos speaks to you directly. It’s almost like a fourth wall break when Chronos says the line “You do not control the flow of Time. Not here.”

After saying a line, your game will immediately resume, forcing you to continue fighting him. If you attempt to pause the game a second time, he’ll say another line about not allowing you to pause the game, and the game resumes. You can continue to repeat this numerous times, but Chronos will simply say “No” after a few attempts.

How to pause the Chronos boss battle

Although this may sound like an annoying feature, there’s a way to stop it from happening. After experiencing this in your own game, you’ll soon unlock the Incantation “Power to Pause and Reflect.” This allows Melinoe to suppress Chronos’ ability to unpause your game.

It doesn’t cost too many materials, and it’s worth unlocking if you enjoy pausing your game during tough fights. It’s cool to see a feature like this that many players won’t even know about, but it’s also good to see that it’s preventable if players require the ability to pause. Hopefully, more cool features like this will make an appearance throughout the Hades 2 roadmap to a full release.
