Open-world racer The Crew is available to pre-order on Steam, with bonuses if you do it before 25 August – but if you’re in the UK, it’s stupidly expensive.
If you pre-order before that particular date then you’ll get access to a four-day beta (starting on 25 August and ending on 29 August), as well as a free upgrade to the game’s Limited Edition. The Limited Edition offers the game (obviously) as well as 10,000 Crew Credits and exclusive street edition packs for the Ram SRT-10, BMW Z4 sDrive35is, and Mini Cooper S. Those packs contain a full set of custom parts and performance parts for each car.
However, in the UK at least, this pricing follows suit with the Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 pre-orders, by which I mean we’re getting completely bloody shafted on the price. Pre-ordering The Crew will cost you £49.99, and The Crew Gold Edition (which contains the Season Pass) will cost you £59.99, discounted from £64.99. Now, I can’t say it’ll be cheaper outside of the UK, but… well, the other two Ubi games were. At that price, I think I would most definitely wait for reviews.
The Crew is due out on 11 November. Peter (Parrish) and I both spent a bit of time in the previous beta, and you can have a read of our thoughts over here.
