Ubisoft’s ‘server transition’ breaks unscheduled games

Remember that ‘server transition’ announced by Ubisoft last week? On PC, it was only supposed to affect Tom Clancy’s HAWX 2, Settlers 7 and Might & Magic Heroes VI. Mac users would be denied Assassin’s Creed (the first one), Splinter Cell Conviction and The Settlers from 7 February to an undisclosed date.
That was the plan anyway, but as a tweet from Ubisoft admits “We apologize for the inconvenience, it seems some of you can’t connect to games announced as playable during migration”.
Those games reportedly having ‘unscheduled’ issues include Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Anno 2070, and Driver: San Francisco. A further Ubisoft tweet adds “We’re on it”.
Remember, this ‘server transition’ is only necessary to maintain Ubisoft’s online DRM system, which as well as treating paying customers like potential criminals is now preventing them from playing their games.
Twitter has some choice words on it for Ubisoft, including this from ‘Pokeh’: “Why not just ditch your ludicrous DRM system instead?” and the even more straightforward “You fucking morons” from ‘Martin Coxall’.
