Destiny 2’s Superblack Shader is out now — Learn how to get it before it’s gone!

The one shader to rule them all

When Into the Light first launched, players were excited to start grinding for that sweet all-black armor shader Bungie showed off. Which is why it came as a surprise to players when they couldn’t unlock the shader the same week Into the Light dropped. But after 4 weeks, Destiny 2’s SuperBlack Shader is out now, so let’s learn how to get it before it’s gone.

The SuperBlack shader is one of many new additions to the Into the Light content wave for the week of April 29, 2024 along with the highly anticipated Pantheon mode. At the back of the new hub area the Hall of Champions, you can see a symbiote-like material sitting behind an energy wall. And in order to unlock the SuperBlack shader in Destiny 2, you must acquire the Alpha and Omega SuperBlack keys.

Thankfully, both halves of the key are found in the Hall of Champions. You get the Alpha key from reaching rank 17 with Lord Shaxx, and the Omega Key from Arcite 99-40 by completing all BRAVE weapon quests. Aside from this, players can expect three new PvP maps on May 7, and the Zero Hour exotic weapon quest on May 14. However much like the Pantheon mode, the SuperBlack shader isn’t here to stay.

When does SuperBlack Shader leave in Destiny 2?

Much like the Hall of Champions, the SuperBlack shader departs from Destiny 2 when The Final Shape drops on June 3, 2024. So if you haven’t been farming those Trophies of Bravery, you better get on it. Whether you already acquired Shaxx’s half of the key or not, you still have to complete the last two BRAVE weapon quests (assuming you’ve completed the others already) before claiming Arcite’s half of the key.

It’s a bit odd that Bungie decided to remove everything from the Hall of Champions as well as Pantheon. Most if not all of these new additions have been met with high praise, so it’s a bit odd that they are choosing to get rid of it once TFS drops. So make sure you grind all the weapons and shaders and get ready to start the very first episode in Destiny 2: Echoes.
