Yooka-Laylee gets E3 2016 trailer, release in 2017

Playtonic (the former Rare chaps behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country) have released an E3 2016 trailer for their Kickstarted 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee.

Much like Banjo-Kazooie, you’ll be controlling a pair of characters (in this case chameleon Yooka and bat Laylee) across a variety of 3D environments in search of collectibles and not falling to your death. There’ll be special moves, secrets to unlock and discover, plus an extensive use of the entire colour palette.

The release date for Yooka-Laylee has now been confirmed as the first quarter of 2017 (January to March), and while Team17 will be publishing the game on all platforms, Playtonic will reportedly be coding the PC version in-house.

There’ll be more at E3, but in the meantime here’s a dose of animal platforming. Plus a few images.
