Arkane’s president says Steam refund policy is the PC demo

PC gamers will have been frustrated there was no PC Prey demo mainly because they will be concerned about performance. According to Arkane president Raphael Colantonio they just didn’t have time to make one.

Speaking to Ausgamers, Colantonio says they had to choose between a PC or a console demo adding, “It’s just a resource assignment thing. We couldn’t do a demo on both the console and on the PC, we had to choose. PC has Steam. Steam players can just return the game [prior to playing] 2 hours so it’s like a demo already.”

PC gamers have some reassurance that if the game’s performance is terrible then they can apply for a Steam refund but Colantonio doesn’t think there will be an issue. He’s also keen to clarify that the PC version is not a port.

“I also want to clarify that there’s no PC port. I keep on hearing ‘oh they’re going to screw up the PC port’ there is no PC port. We do the game on PC. It’s a PC game. It’s a different engine to Dishonored as well. So we might have our own sets of problems.”

We’ll know in a couple of days if Colantonio is right. Roll on 5 May.
