Bandai Namco’s challenging FY 2013 partly alleviated by video game segment

Bandai Namco is a multi-pronged octopus, encompassing games, toys, and anime. This year, that octopus did not do as well as it hoped, but at least its video games showed signs of growth.

Unfortunately, its amusement machine business was not part of the growth, but it did see a rise in $ 833.9 million in game sales, over $ 829 million last year. As a whole, company revenues rose year on year to $ 5 billion, but actual profit is down year on year, to $ 246.6 million.

Regarding individual games, Dark Souls 2 sold 1.2 million units, God Eater 2 sold 700,000 units, and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z sold 620,000. Bandai Namco expects lower growth for its games in the following year, although that may change in the future.
