Yorkshire Games Festival 2017 reveals line-up of industry speakers

The Yorkshire Games Festival will be returning to Bradford for its second year, running from 8-12 November. This five day celebration of games culture is being hosted by the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, and will feature a series of talks from industry professionals.

9 November will find TT Games’ Arthur Parsons talking about the making of Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 and the history of TT Games. On the same day, Louise McLennan and Sebastian Hickey from Frontier will talk about the user interface design of Elite: Dangerous, and how that carried over into VR support. There will also be a presentation from Ninja Theory’s Dominic Matthews about making a game about mental illness (Hellblade) with a small team.

The Yorkshire Games Festival talks continue on 10 November. Bradford-born Iki Ikram will talk about his work on Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us, Oli De-Vine and Phil Duncan (Ghost Town Games) will discuss Overcooked, and composer David Wise will talk about his 30 year career scoring games.

Events and Workshops will continue throughout 11 and 12 November, including a Let’s Play event offering a chance to beta test local titles, and a Live Action Role-Playing Game called ‘The Displaced’ that will take place around Bradford. Ticketing information is also available at the above link. Looks like a full event pass will cost £75/65 (Adult/Concession), while day passes will be £40/35 (Adult/Concession). 8 November is set aside as a Schools Day: “special events for KS2 and KS3 will cover all the elements that make a great game – from coding to story.”
