Ubisoft is leveraging user data to help Ubisoft gamers through a new personal gaming assistant called Sam
Sam is the latest addition to the Ubisoft Club and Ubisoft is hoping the mobile app will point gamers in the right direction when they are looking for information on Ubisoft games. Sam can be talked to or take text input through Sam’s chatbot Q&A feature.
Sam is also apparently able to analyse a player’s latest matches and provide hints and tips through the Daily Login feature, which is introduced with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. If you’re struggling to win matches then Sam will analyse what the player is doing wrong and send over a video clip from the community. It’s not clear exactly how this will work or if it will be of any use at all.
“With Sam, our ambition is to create an innovative and helpful service for players, one that knows them and helps push them get more out of their gaming experience. Sam provides a more personalized experience for our fans and delivers them what they need faster, so they can spend less time searching and more time playing,” said Stephanie Perotti, vice president of online services at Ubisoft. “Incorporating Google Cloud’s Dialogflow Enterprise Edition has helped us work dynamically and iterate faster so we can better service our fans.”
Sam is currently in beta testing, and while it’s a nice idea, it sounds like an overly complex way to hunt down information on particular Ubi games. Are we really becoming this lazy?
