Ubisoft has decided to cancel their Uplay Passports. The decision was made following criticism towards the company, who use the code to lock online features. Because of this new step, the code that locked online content for the fourth instalment of Assassins Creed has now also been suspended.
Ubisoft took to their blog site to tell the fans saying. “Assassin’s Creed fans, we heard you loud and clear.” Before going on to say “The Uplay Passport program was initiated as a means of giving customers full access and support for online multiplayer and features, along with exclusive content, bonuses and rewards. However, games today are blurring the line between offline and online, between what is ‘single player’ and what is ‘multiplayer’.” And, “Based on that and on the feedback we received from you, we recognized that Passport is no longer the best approach for ensuring that all our customers have the best possible experience with all facets of our games.”
Those who have already purchased the Uplay code for Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag have been asked to contact their Ubisoft support centers.
Ubisoft also announced that the South Park Stick of Truth game is to be delayed until March, 2014 earlier today.
