PlayStation Plus coming to Vita, free for existing PS Plus members

More news from the Tokyo Game Show; the PlayStation Plus service will be coming to the PlayStation Vita in November. All the usual PlayStation Plus perks, like free games, additional discounts and the like, will be available in Vita form. Sony confirms that people with an existing PlayStation Plus membership on the PS3 will be able to access it on Vita for no extra cost.

Likewise, if you purchase PS Plus membership for the first time on Vita, you’ll get it for the PS3 too.

Sony promises “a variety” of different subscription options, varying by region, but announced the following types and prices in its press release: “A 30 day plan (Japan: 500 yen, Asia: HK $38), a 90 day plan (North America: $17.99, Europe: €14.99) and a 365 day plan (Japan: 5,000 yen, Asia: HK$233, North America: $49.99, Europe: €49.99)”.

Cloud saves will be possible on Vita, just as they are on the PS3. You’ll get 1GB of storage space (so if you happen to own both Vita and PS3, you’ll have 2GB in total across the two platforms).
