In Dying Light 2, you’ll find infrastructure facilities that can be taken over. Once you do this, you can decide on whether they’d be assigned to the Survivors or the Peacekeepers. Each faction entails a particular reward, making exploration or combat in The City more manageable. Dying Light 2 City Alignment guide – Assign facilities to Survivors or Peacekeepers
To be honest with you, I’d like to say that this guide is somewhat incomplete. Now, I’ve already cleared all the Dying Light 2 City Alignment areas and I’ve assigned them to factions. The problem is that there’s something “odd” with the mechanics involved. According to the tooltip, the more facilities are assigned to a faction, the more improvements they can make in the areas of The City that they control (i.e., gradual rank-ups). However, after checking, it seems that I was getting the rewards from both factions (or that another faction continued to rank up even if I didn’t choose it).

Note 1: I do want to mention that the developers got back to us regarding an entirely different matter. But, in relation to facilities and City Alignment in Dying Light 2, we’ve been told that players can receive a different set of sidequests depending on the faction that they’ve chosen.
Note 2: The first facility that gets assigned is the Horseshoe Water Tower in a main quest called, uh, Water Tower. That segment serves as a tutorial for this mechanic. After that, you’ll assign Electrical Stations in A Place To Call Home and Broadcast. The rest are discovered while free-roaming.
