Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge 1987 Voice Cast Return

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will include the 1987 cartoon voice cast when it releases this summer

Cowabunga, it is.

Like many arrogant ’90s kids, I grew up on the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. What followed was a love affair I had with the slimy sewer mutants for many years, spanning video games and toys. Dotemu has shown a particular talent for tapping into the nostalgia for that era. And with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, it’s taking that even further. Shredder’s Revenge, developed by Tribute Games, not only calls back to the best TMNT game, but it’ll include the voice cast from that famous cartoon.

The news came paired with a new 11-minute gameplay video posted by IGN earlier today. The outlet reported that the entire cartoon voice cast of the boys in green are coming to Shredder’s Revenge. Cam Clarke returns as the stoic leader Leonardo, Rob Paulsen will once more voice the hot-headed Raph, Barry Gordon is back as the science-minded Donatello, and of course, we can’t forget Mikey, voiced by Townsend Coleman.

It’s unknown if the rest of the voice cast will return for Shredder’s Revenge. The game also includes both Master Splinter and April O’Neil, so it would be totally radical to hear about Peter Renaday and Renae Jacobs returning to their respective roles. Many of the Turtle voice actors have continued to be a part of the franchise, either through cartoons or video games. Paulsen (who later voiced Yakko Warner in The Animaniacs) came back in Nickelodeon’s 2012 TMNT show not as Raphael, but as Donatello.

This is all super nerdy stuff, so thanks for staying this long.

Getting the band back together

Bringing the original cartoon voice cast into the fold wasn’t expected with Shredder’s Revenge, but it’s welcome. The game is rich in callbacks to the old cartoon. Its reveal trailer even begins with a remix of the show’s theme song. Good luck ever getting that out of your head.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is set to break out of the sewers this summer.
