Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to knock Pokémon out of trees

Get them on your level.

It pays to keep an eye out on your surroundings when exploring Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s open world, as Pokémon could be hiding anywhere. During your travels, you will likely come across a Pokémon or two hiding in a tree just out of reach. Naturally, those aiming to catch ’em all will want to shake the Pokémon loose somehow so you can battle them. Fortunately, you do not have to go through much at all to accomplish this. This guide will explain how you can knock Pokémon out of their trees in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to knock Pokémon out of trees in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Both games let you perform this task through two methods, one of which simply involves you throwing your Poké Ball at the suspended Pokémon. You do this by holding down ZL to go into aim mode before centering your aim directly toward the Pokémon and hitting ZR to toss your Poké Ball. If done correctly, the Pokémon will fall to the ground and immediately trigger a battle with you, giving you an opportunity to catch it.

What about the second method?

The other method involves either Koraidon or Miraidon’s dash ability, which you have to obtain by progressing far enough into the story. Fortunately, you unlock it fairly early on after besting the Titan Klawf as part of the ‘Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan’ mission. Once you have the ability, you can go up to a tree full of Pokémon while mounting Koraidon or Miraidon and perform a dash to ram into it. Doing so will knock down all of the Pokémon at once.

Whichever method you choose, any Pokémon you see hiding out in trees in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will no longer remain as elusive as they may have seemed at first. Of course, getting the exact Pokémon you want, either through the picnic feature or another method, is a different issue entirely.
