You’re gonna need a light source in Sons of the Forest. Even if you’re not exploring, you’ll still want something that can help you see in the dark while you’re relaxing in your camp. Here’s our guide to help you craft the Standing Fire and Skull Lamp in Sons of the Forest.

Sons of the Forest guide – How to craft Standing Fire and Skull Lamp
There’s a good chance that you’ve already made a Basic Fire or Reinforced Fire in the game. As for the Sons of the Forest Standing Fire and Skull Lamp, you’ll need a few more items:
- 2x Sticks – Sticks are scattered all over the ground, though you can also use your Axe (equip it from your inventory). With the Axe equipped, start chopping down some small trees or shrubbery, and pick up any Sticks that have fallen on the ground.
- Cloth (for Standing Fire) – You should find some Cloth in your inventory once you’ve checked out all the containers in the helicopter crash. Alternatively, you could spot a few in a base camp close to the crash site.
- Skull (for Skull Lamp) – The fastest way to get a Skull is by taking a look inside caves and seeing if any remains are scattered about.

After obtaining these items, you’ll need to place them in the correct order so you can build a Standing Fire or Skull Lamp in Sons of the Forest:
- Equip a Stick and look directly at the ground. The cursor will change to two white lines denoting horizontal placement. Press the right mouse button to change the orientation and the cursor will change to a dot. This lets you place the Stick vertically.
- Next, open your inventory and select the Cloth piece. Hold “E” to tie it around the Stick.
- Standing Fire or Skull Lamp – Decide on which one you want to craft:
- Standing Fire – Equip another Stick and hold “E” to place it on top of the first one.
- Skull Lamp – Equip a Skull and hold “E” to place it on top of the pole.
- Equip your lighter by pressing the “L” key.
- Look at the top of branching segments/skull and hold the “E” key. Your character will light the object on fire.
