Sons of the Forest has several weapon attachments that can give your firearms that extra punch or utility effect. One of these is the Pistol Rail, which is highly important, as it’s required if you want to put other upgrades on your weapon. How to get the Pistol Rail attachment in Sons of the Forest
To get the Pistol Rail attachment in Sons of the Forest, you’ll need to head to the coast. Specifically, you’ll have to open your GPS map and look for the three purple markers, all of which grant you new items:
- Flashlight – This is the marker that’s closer to the mountains.
- Shotgun – This one is further away at the edge of the island.
- Pistol – This is the only marker that’s in the middle of the sea. You’ll also want to go near this area.

As you can see in the image above, the purple marker refers to a boat that’s floating in the middle of the sea. If you swim there, you’ll be able to pick up the Pistol itself, as well as its GPS Tracker (just watch out for sharks). As for the Sons of the Forest Pistol Rail attachment, it’s actually on the beach (the boat with the firearm is across from it). Look for large boulders along the shore. One of them should have a corpse. Check this corpse to pick up the attachment.
Related: The Sons of the Forest Pistol Rail attachment can be combined with the weapon to prep it for other upgrades. These include the Flashlight attachment and Laser Sight attachment. There’s also a Silencer, but it doesn’t require the Rail. All in all, you can combine these to make a weapon that’s got all the functions you need.
