State of Decay PC controller version getting close to Steam release

Undead Labs were busy showing off the controller only PC version of State of Decay at PAX last week which was a step on the right direction to getting the full PC version out by the end of the year.

Today Undead Labs posted a quick update to say that the controller only version is now “in testing” which means it could be ready to land on Steam in the not too distant future as an “Early Access” version of the game.

In related news, the console sandbox mode is also now in testing which is good to hear as it’s one feature that should be released with the PC version.

If you are in any doubt as to whether you should grab the Steam Early Access version, Undead Labs posted this comment:

If you are a keyboard player, as I am, and if you don’t want to deal with rough edges or changes, as I would not if it weren’t part of my job, the Early Access version is NOT a good idea. You should wait until we formally launch the PC version. The final PC version will support both the 360 controller and keyboard/mouse. Early Access is strictly for people who enjoy shaping outcomes and giving feedback, and don’t mind bugs.

Unfortunately there is no exact date for the controller only PC version but we’ll let you know as soon as we get one.
