Hearthstone open beta delayed

Blizzard has decided to delay the release of the Hearthstone open beta so as not to “rush it”.

In the latest update on the site, they say that they are “close – very close” to opening the beta floodgates but there are still problems that need to be ironed out.

“We believe the right thing to do for the game is to not rush it out into open beta, but to instead hold onto it a little longer to make sure it’s ready for wider testing. At BlizzCon, we mentioned that we hoped to get the game into a state where it’s ready for open beta this month, but we’re just not quite there yet. The development team has been working hard to get this out before the end of the year, but our highest priority is that Hearthstone has an awesome launch when all gates are lifted and everyone can download it and play at the same time.”

There are a lot of closed beta keys out in the wild so I doubt the delay will upset too many people that are really wanting to try the game out. Blizzard has also sent out more keys to everyone who has opted in to test though BattleNet so I think we can safely say most people will now be on the beta.

Interested testers can still opt-in to the beta until 7 January.
